There are a large number of rental shops across the island that offer a wide variety of models and will take you to your desired location.

Discover Sylt quickly and flexibly by car. You can easily hire one from one of the service providers and use it to reach places to enjoy, stores and beaches in comfort. Although the island is only around 40 kilometers long, a car or e-car is a great way to see as much as possible.

Dogs

With its magnificent landscape, forty kilometers of beach, meadows and woods, Sylt is a true paradise for dogs and their owners. Designated dog beaches welcome your four-legged friend all year round. As fifty percent of the island is made up of nature reserves, it is important to keep your dog on a lead.

Golf courses

A total of four golf courses make Sylt a popular destination for golf fans. First-class links courses such as the Golfclub Budersand in Hörnum with sea views or the Marine Golf Club in Westerland provide challenging playing conditions. There is also the northernmost golf club on Sylt with a view of the Kampen lighthouse and the Morsum Golf Club, surrounded by mudflats and meadows.

From the New Year’s Eve party on the Wenningstedt promenade to the legendary Christmas swimming in Westerland: there’s something going on on Sylt all year round! Although the winter months are perhaps a little quieter in terms of the event program, spring and summer in particular have a lot in store. You can experience a colorful Easter program on Sylt, watch beach polo in Hörnum at Whitsun or cheer on the international surfing elite at the Windsurf World Cup. A special highlight and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the island-wide Biike burning on February 21, when the winter spirits are driven away and spring is heralded.

Bathing rules

A vacation on Sylt, especially in the summer months, includes a dip in the North Sea. Because nothing is as refreshing as swimming in the sea. It’s important to pay attention to the current conditions. How big are the waves? Are there currents, groynes? From May to September, lifeguards ensure your safety on many of Sylt’s beaches and use flags and marked bathing areas to indicate where and whether it is possible to swim.
